Someone asked me back during BEDA if I could share some of my favourite places in the city I basically grew up in. I started the list last month, but I found it in my drafts and descided to finish it up and post it for you guys. Especially because I'm moving back to my home town outside of the city for a few couple months at the beginning of June and then leaving the country in the autumn. If you're ever in the city, I definitely recommend these places!
- Victor Steinbrueck Park, right down by Pike Place Market.
The Market is great, but I think the park across the street overlooking Elliott Bay is just so beautiful. I have many fond memories here, including a YouTube gathering I hosted.
- Lola.
Lola is a Tom Douglas restaurant that you may have seen on Food Network. It has the most amazing donuts in the world and, for that, it is a must see in my book.
- Harvard Exit Cinema.
My favourite place to go see films. It is a Landmark Theatre right off Broadway, on Roy St. It's small, adorable, has a balcony and there is a fireplace in the lobby. So lovely.
- Paramount Theatre.
Gorgeous theatre where most big performers and shows come through in the city. I adore it there.
- Lakeview Blvd.
There is an overpass that runs parallel to the freeway (I-5) at the bottom of Capitol Hill where you get the most beautiful view of the city. I cannot remember the street name, but from searching around Google Maps, I think it's Lakeview.
- Cafe Flora.
My favourite restaurant in Seattle. It's down on Madison and has the best vegetarian options ever. Just thinking about it has my mouth watering.
- Golden Age Collectables.
I never realised until googling that they spell collectibles wrong, but hey! This is the oldest comic book shop in America and it is freaking awesome. It has toys, cards, comic books, posters and tons of other nerdy paraphernalia.
- Dick's Drive-In.
I'm a vegetarian, but I still feel obligated to share this one because they make amazing fries. And, for the record, when I did eat meat, I preferred Dick's burgers to In-n-Out. Just sayin'.
- Twice Told Tales.
This would be my favourite bookshop, if not for the cats. I adore it here and the owners are so passionate about books, but I definitely cannot be in here too often because of my allergy. However, if this is not an issue for you, I definitely recommend hitting this shop up for some fantastic editions of books at great prices! It's on the corner of Harvard and Denny.
- Cupcake Royale.
Loads of people will tell you that there are other great cupcake places in the city and yes, there are, but Royale has always been my favourite. They always have the best cupcakes of the month, they're never dry (even at the end of the day) and the frosting is mouth watering.
I think I'll add to this over time, if I remember. It's a nice list to have written down, I think :) Alright, off to...no, actually I have no plans once this is finished. I'm just done here. Glad you liked my last post. I'm sort of obsessed with collecting images that inspire me in some way, which is one of the reasons tumblr is so great. I'll post more in the future, I think. Have a great evening, guys! xx
